Does Weight Affect an Individual's Sexual Health?

There are many aspects in life that can ultimately affect an individual’s sexual health, and one of these is weight. Not only does being overweight often become a problem that affects a person’s self-esteem and how they feel about themselves, but it is a problem that can also have a huge impact on the reproductive system. The NIEHS or National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences has made the statement that "overweight men are significantly more likely to be infertile than normal-weight men, and that for every 20-pound body weight gain in men there is a ten per cent increase in infertility." Women that are obese are also susceptible to a much higher risk of acquiring some very serious health problems that would include cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, cancers like endometrial cancer and postmenopausal breast cancer, and diabetes.

When an individual makes the decision to lose extra weight, they often will enjoy sexual encounters with their partners much more, and this is a benefit that can greatly increase sexual pleasure that they experience. When a person feels better about themselves, they have a higher level of self-esteem and a better overall outlook about their body and their sexual health.
